Hello Beautiful Release Blog Hop-Day 1

Hello, crafty friends. I’m thrilled to be part of THIS blog hop celebrating THIS new release. I have three cards to share today featuring my favorite stamp set from the release…

I wanted to share several ways to use one stamp set. When I get a new stamp set and I’m not sure what creative direction I’m going in, I like to start by stamping all the images and using the coordinating dies to cut them out. I did that with today’s project and stamped THESE adorable narwhal images and used THESE coordinating dies to cut them out. Then I add some color. I chose to color these images with Copic Markers. I use my coloring as a jumping off point for the design.

For the first card…

I masked off the areas around the center to create a focal point. I ink blended three shades of blue Distress ink and spritzed some water on top to create some texture. Once dry, I ran it through my die-cut machine with THIS die. It doesn’t cut anything but pierces a pattern into the design. I added the narwhal image using one of THESE mini action wobblers as well as a white heat embossed sentiment from the stamp set. I used a black glaze pen to the eyes to make them stand out more.

Here’s a closer look…

For the second card…

I started by creating a background using the small star images from the stamp set. I added a bit of coloring to some but kept it tone on tone so it wasn’t too distracting. I die-cut THIS rainbow heart and added it to the card along with a different narwhal image, some sentiments, and some more stamped stars. I also added sparkle with a shimmer pen to the rainbow.

Here’s a closer look…

For the last card…

I die-cut THESE strips using colored card stock and adhered them to a panel to create a background. I die-cut THIS scalloped piece twice. I ink blended towards the bottom of one of the pieces and applied some shimmer spitz for texture. I added the narwhal piece as well as a balloon die-cut where I stamped the first part of the sentiment.

I adhered one of the scallop pieces directly to the striped background and the other one I scored at the top and adhered it to the back of the striped piece to create a hinge for the piece to open. I stamped another sentiment on the inside as well as a matching narwhal to tie everything together…

Creating a simple interactive element using your shaped dies is a great way to stretch your supplies.

Love the cute cards you made using the adorable narwhals. Clever use of the rainbow heart. Also clever the way you used the chunky scallop die to create the shaped card on your third narwhal card. Thanks for the great inspiration!
