Make Merry Release Blog Hop

Hi, crafty friends. I’m thrilled to be a part of THIS blog hop celebrating THIS new release. I have two cards today that feature masking…

For the first card…

I white heat embossed THIS background and die-cut it using THIS square stitched die. I used THIS tape to mask off stripes and blended on shades of green Distress Oxide inks. I sprayed THIS heavily on top for some shine. Once it was dry, I die-cut a smaller square from the center (just like the first card) and added THIS behind it for some dimension. I die-cut one of THESE hearts from vellum and added it to the card along with THIS die-cut sentiment. I cut the “warm” word off the top of the die-cut so I would just have “hugs”. Altering your die-cut words is a great way to stretch the use of them.

For the second card…

I gold heat embossed THIS background on THIS kraft card stock. I die-cut it using THIS square stitched die and used THESE masks to create rings of color with Distress Oxide inks. After the largest circle was completed, I added THIS tape to the corners to fill in the rest of the embossed pattern. I die-cut the center using a smaller square die from the same set and added THIS behind it for dimension. I finished off the design by adding THIS die-cut word on top.

I hope this inspires you to try some masking on your next project.
