SSS October Card Kit BLOG HOP

Welcome. I’m so happy to be joining today’s blog hop showcasing projects created with this kit…

The October Card Kit can be found HERE

I have several cards to share, so I hope you don’t mind this long post. 🙂 For all three cards, I started with a 3×4 card as my jumping off point.

For the first card…

…I used the hello die-cut that is included in the kit and die-cut it from of THIS toner paper. I added some of THIS gold foil on top and ran it through my Minc Machine, creating a gold foiled embellishment. I backed it with some black fun foam for added dimension and adhered it to the center of one of the 3×4 cards. For the background of the card, I die-cut a sheet of the patterned paper from the kit using THIS die. After adhering everything down to the black card base, I finished the card by adding some of THESE gold sequins and adding some Wink of Stella and Glossy accents to the flowers for some shine.

For the second card, I chose a 3×4 card with a pick typewriter (how cute is that!?). I heat embossed a sentiment on the typewriter’s paper from the stamp set included in the kit. I cut it out and adhered it to a black panel cut with THIS die. To create the background, I cut several, random sized strips of the patterned paper and adhered them to a piece of cardstock at an angle. I die-cut the entire piece using THIS die.

I bent the corner of the typewriter paper, applied glossy accents to the typewriter keys, and added an epoxy heart for a few finishing touches…

For my final card (are ya still with me?) …

I chose a butterfly die-cut piece to start with and used the opening to let the gold ink shine through. The gold pigment ink included in the kit is beautiful. I smeared some on a piece of cardstock and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. I also used the ink around the edges of the sentiment strip, Speaking of the sentiment, I stamped it with THIS ink and then clear heat embossed it. I really like how this makes sentiments and images pop.

To finish the card, I die-cut some striped patterned paper with THIS die and added some gold splatter. I created the gold splatter by dabbing the gold ink on my craft sheet and adding a small amount of water. I picked it up with my paintbrush and flicked it on.

As I mentioned, this is part of a fun Blog Hop. Make sure to leave a comment below because Simon Says Stamp is picking one winner from each stop along the hop to win a $25 gift certificate! Winners will be announced on Friday, September 18th.

The next stop on the hop is the amazing Kristina Werner. If you come across a broken link, you can start at the beginning HERE.

Thanks so much for stopping by and happy hopping!

Thank you… the first card is my favorite of the three and amazes me how cute it is since it's a relatively easy card to put together… too often I tend to over complicate my design and thus it takes forever to make a card so I put off actually doing very many… I'm inspired to simplify and enjoy the results. THANKS! Have a great day! Sue =)
