Friends Release Blog Hop

Hi, crafty friends. I’m honored to be part of this blog hop celebrating Simon Says Stamp’s Friends Release. I have three cards to share today that feature THIS new die set…

I thought it would be fun to share three different ways to use the same die set…

1. Create your own DIY cover plate.
I love the look of a die-cut background, but cover plate dies can be expensive. Instead, I created a die-cut background using a set of dies…
I die-cut the flowers from THIS die from a piece of black cardstock. I adhered colored cardstock underneath the openings and adhered the intricate die-cut on top for an in-laid look. I stamped a greeting form THIS stamp set on a circle cut with THIS die. I adhered the piece to a top folding pink note card and added THIS on top of the flowers for some sparkle.
2. Create stamps from your dies.
I used the same flower die set and cut it from THIS fun foam. I temporarily adhered it to an acrylic block and stamped the images on a piece of white cardstock. The fun foam stamps beautifully…
I colored in the images with THESE markers and added a white heat embossed sentiment from THIS stamp set.
3.Create foiled accents using your dies.
I die-cut the flowers from THIS toner paper and added colored foil on top. I placed them in a carrier sheet and ran them through THIS machine to apply heat and seal the foil. I love the shine it gives….
I finished the card off with a white heat embossed sentiment from THIS stamp set.
I hope this inspires you to try one of these techniques using your dies.

I looked at your cards and literally said "Yes please!" out loud. I would never have guessed that second one was stamped with fun foam; it looks so solid and perfect. But I think my favorite is the first one. You just can't go wrong with bright sparkly flowers and leaves set in black! I mean, that's pretty much the principle behind stained glass windows, right? 😀 Thanks for sharing your creativity with us.

Great idea, I think sometimes we can’t see multiple possibilities for a die set. These are very pretty!
