MMH May 2017 Blog Hop

Hello and welcome. Today I’m sharing projects created with THIS May My Monthly Hero Card Kit from Hero Arts. Here’s a look at the kit…

 Kit contents
1 4” x 6” clear stamp set
18 coordinating dies (5 Fancy Dies & 13 Frame Cuts)
1 6” x 6” stencil
More than 2.5 teaspoons cyrene sequins
3 ink cubes (Deep Blue, Aqua, Amethyst)
5 5” x 6” acetate sheets
1 bottle of turquoise silk liquid ink (iridescent)
3 sheets of 6” x 6” lightweight paper (Ice blue, Marble Tissue and Swirl Tissue)
The kit value is over $70, an amazing deal at $34.99.

I created two cards using the kit contents as well as THIS add on stamp set…

To create the first card…

I used THIS embossing paste with THIS stencil and applied it to the front of a blue notecard in the center. I die-cut the seaweed from the specialty pape rin the kit and adhered it on top of the embossing paste using THIS strong adhesive. I stamped and colored the mermaid using THESE watercolors. I cut out the image using the coordinating dies and adhered it on top of the background adding fun foam underneath. I white heat embossed a coordinating sentiment on to a scrap of vellum and adhered it down using the same liquid adhesive and placing tiny drops behind the embossed words. I finished off the card by adding some gemstones and THIS shimmer pen to the mermaid.

Here’s a closer look…

For the second card…

I created the same embossing paste background as the first card on to a piece of blue cardstock. I adhered it to a white notecard.

To create the window…

1. I cut 1/2 of an inch from the bottom of the front of the card off and then another inch from that. Save those pieces you will need them.
2. I lined the bottom half of the remaining portion on the front of the card with THIS strong adhesive and laid the acetate piece on top. I also applied that same tape to the bottom of the acetate piece.
3. I used one of the one inch strips that I cut off from the beginning and laid it on the adhesive that is on the bottom of the acetate. I adhered the other one inch piece to the back to hide the adhesive.
4. I cut a piece of white cardstock that was the same size as the portion above the window to adhere to the back of the card to hide the adhesive there also.
7. I  rounded the two corners of the card.

I stamped the greeting from the kit’s stamp set using Black Staz-On ink. I stamped, colored, and cut out a different mermaid image just as I did on the previous card.

THIS add-on wood stamp is gorgeous! I thought it would be perfect to stamp on the back of a couple of envelopes…
