Caring Hearts Blog Hop

Today is World Kindness Day and we are celebrating with a fun blog hop in support of the Caring Hearts Card Drive. The purpose of this card drive is to collect handmade holiday cards for the elderly that live in nursing homes around the world. Since 2010 we have been bringing joy to many nursing homes throughout the US, Canada and Australia. And this year, we are branching out to the UK! What better way to share our love of card making than to bring joy to others, right? We hope you’ll join us in supporting the card drive. Details for the card drive can be found at: Vera Yates Blog HERE or Jennifer McGuire’s Blog HERE.

I’m sharing two cards I created for the card drive…

To create these cards, I used THESE coordinating dies from THIS stamp set and cut them from the center of a piece of cardstock and a piece of extra thick fun foam. I love using the negative portion of a die that is a basic shape. I encourage you to take a second look at your dies and find some basic shapes. They make perfect windows to shaker cards.

I love creating shaker cards but as I was adding the fun little bits to these, I couldn’t stop so a filled shaker card was born! I left a bit of room at the top of each card so the pattern of the paper would peek through and give just enough space for a little shake…

I heat embossed a sentiment from THIS set under each image and added a few snowflakes to this card to finish it off…

Here’s a closer look at each…

I can’t seem to get enough plaid print lately. The deer card uses THIS paper pad and the bear card uses THIS paper pad.

I hope you will give this filled shaker card technique a try and create some cards for this amazing card drive.
