I started by creating a gatefold card. I started with a 8.5 x 5.5 piece of white card stock and scored it at 2 1/4 inch from both sides. I covered the two front panels with patterned paper from the kit. I die-cut the candy canes from the kit’s die but decided to arrange them differently than intended. I cut two of the full size candy canes and adhere them together in the center. To make the candy canes look realistic, I covered them with Versamark ink and heat embossed them using THIS sparkle embossing powder. I repeated the process two more times for some dimension and shine…
I stamped, colored, and cut out the leaves and berries from the kit’s stamp set and adhered it to the center of the candy canes. I adhered the candy canes to a patterned paper panel I die-cut using THIS die. I stamped a sentiment along the bottom and adhered it to the gatefold card only on the right hand panel. You will want to pick one side to adhere your element to because you don’t want to adhere your card completely shut.
I wanted to continue the design on the inside so I die-cut another panel like the one on the front of the card and adhered it to the inside of the card. I stamped a sentiment from the kit’s stamp set to tie everything together. I like how this stamp set includes sentiments that work well on the inside of the card too…
I also stamped the flap of the envelope with a border image from the kit’s stamp set. I stamped it with red ink for a tone on tone look…
