November 2017 My Monthly Hero Blog Hop

Hi there. I’m thrilled to be taking part in the November My Monthly Hero Blog Hop. This month’s kit is fabulous.

*You can find more information about the kit HERE.

I decided to make a few gatefold cards using the main images from the kit’s stamp set…

To create these cards…
1. I cut the card base to 4 1/4 x 8 1/2 and scored at 2 1/8 and 6 3/8. I trimmed a sliver off each side at the center because I wanted the gap to be a little wider.
2. I heat embossed the main images and trimmed them out leaving a small white border. I cut the shapes directly down the center.
3. I cut colored cardstock slightly smaller than the flaps and stamped smaller images from the same set using a coordinating ink color for a tone on tone look. I added a white mat around the pieces and adhered them to the flaps.
4.After adhering the pieces of the main images on each side of the opening, I heat embossed a sentiment and adhered it to only one side of the flap. It’s important to adhere it to only one side so that the recipient can open it easily.
5.I finished off the cards by adding some embellishments.

Gatefold cards are a fun alternative to a standard card. I made these for my son’s teachers for Christmas gifts. I put a gift card on the inside…

I also created coordinating envelopes. I stamped/embossed the main images on the flap of the envelopes to tie everything together. Here’s a closer look…

These stamps work great for these cards because the images are symmetrical, but you could do this with any image. Also, if you don’t want to cut an image down the center, just adhere one side to one of the flaps. I think these images would be perfect for spinner cards too!

Clever idea to split the designs in the middle and the gatefolds disguises the size of a gift card.
