Felt Gift Bag Toppers & Blog Hop

Hello and welcome. I’m honored to be a part of the Simon Says Stamp’s Reason To Smile Blog Hop today. I have a project to share using a die from the collection that is intended to be used with felt.

With it, I created some gift bag toppers…

I know that Easter is around the corner, but I wanted to create a non-traditional, colorful “boy” and “girl” bunny as an accent for a couple of baby shower gifts. I used THIS bunny die and die-cut it from several colors of felt. I did a very basic stitch (as I’m not good with a needle and thread) using THIS floss and used THIS glue to add on some playful googly eyes and bows. Before finishing all the stitching, I added some cotton to the inside to make them fluffy…

Also while I was stitching, I added a larger loop of string on top so that I could use one of THESE mini clothespins to attach the piece to the bag. In keeping with the theme, I stamped the baby sentiment from THIS stamp directly on the bag. Here’s a closer look…

I also want to share my felt organization since some of you asked about it from THIS Instagram post. I keep mine in a wooden holder that I found in Target’s dollar spot. I was inspired by my sweet friend, Jennifer McGuire. Her felt organization is awesome (you can find it HERE), but I wanted to do some mini swatches that I could attach to the front of my holder…

I created some one inch squares using THIS punch and THIS paper. I used THIS label maker to create the labels and THIS die set to create the felt hearts. I used THIS metal adapter plate to get a nice cut through the felt.

This particular storage box holds twenty seven rolls of felt, but it could probably hold a couple more comfortably. These are all of my Taylored Expressions rolls of felt.

I attached each square to the holder using Velcro. This way I can pull them off easily to match up colors and create color combos…

P.S. If you’re interested in seeing another project using products from the new release, I shared a card set yesterday on my blog HERE.

Love the felt and the idea of die cutting it, does anyone know if you can die cut it using a cuttlebug?
