Envelope Dies

Hi there, crafty friends. Simon Says Stamp recently released some envelope dies and I’m obsessed. I spent an afternoon watching Netflix and creating envelopes and thought I’d share them here.

First up is THIS A2 V Flap envelope that will fit a standard card with a little wiggle room….

One thing to note about this die is you have to run it twice through your die-cut machine unless you have a bigger style of machine. I tape my die down to the paper with THIS tape and run it through and then slide it down and run it through my machine again to get a full cut.

Next up is THIS 4 Bar V Flap Envelope that is perfect for 3 1/2 x 4 7/8 inch cards….

Last up is THIS 4 Bar Square Flap Envelope that also fits the 3 1/2 x 4 7/8 inch cards, but with a different design…

I used some 12×12 Bo Bunny Dot paper that I’ve hoarded forever, but any regular card stock or patterned paper would work. You will need it to be at least 8.5 x 11 inches but I prefer 12×12. I’ve linked to some Doodlebug patterned papers below that would be perfect to create envelopes from.

Here is a size comparison of all three envelopes…

One tip before I go is before adhering the side pieces of the envelopes (I like to use THIS strong glue), trim off the excess that hangs off the wings that you adhere to the right and the left of the envelope. It will make the envelope open and close much easier. Just fold the crease over and the small amount that hangs off the edge, trim it off.

I hope this inspires you to create your own envelopes. I can’t wait to make more and actually use up some of my patterned paper stash.

Thanks for joining me today. I appreciate your support.

How do you recommend sealing the flaps? I give tons away as gifts but I’m not sure the best way for my recipients to seal the flaps before sending out??
Maybe double-sided adhesive in which they just pull the paper/backing off?

      Hi, Michelle.

Most of the envelopes I use are self sealing so you just pull the liner and the adhesive is exposed and ready. I also like to put washi tape along the outside of the flap to make sure it’s sealed Hope that helps. Have a great day!
