Adding Movement to Cards

Hello, crafty friends. I’m a big fan of interactive cards. Today’s card shares two ways to add movement to your card…

To create this card, I started by creating the galaxy background. I used all Distress Oxide inks and started applying ink in circles all over a piece of A2 sized watercolor cardstock. I used shades of  pinks, oranges, and blues. Once the background was filled with color, I lightly blended black ink on top. I spritzed it heavily with water and placed a paper towel on top to soak up the droplets. This adds a lot of texture and lets you see the color through the black ink.

Once the panel was dry, I flicked some of THIS on the background to add to the galaxy scene. Next, I applied THIS paste through THIS stencil on top of the background. Since I used Oxide inks that react when wet, the color will pull up through the paste and tint it. I like the look and how it blends in with the background. Just wanted something subtle that will catch the eye.

For the frame, I cut THIS die from an A2 panel of THIS specialty cardstock. I adhered THIS die cut along the bottom to resemble a moon. I adhered it down with THIS foam tape for some dimension but before placing the strips on, I taped down a piece of THIS invisible thread along the right side. I did not tape it down super tight but left it a bit loose. After the frame was adhered down to the panel, I adhered the sentiment and images from THIS stamp set. For the image on the right, I cut another of THESE coordinating dies and sandwiched the invisible string between the two die cuts to attach him. Now, he will move back and forth because of the string and give the illusion that he is floating…

You can see that in action HERE. (Swipe to see the video.)

I wanted to continue the motion on this card so I adhere the rocket image towards the top with one of THESE wobblers. I added the sentiment to the moon along the bottom.

I embossed the flap of the envelope with the same stencil and THIS embossing mat in my die cut machine.

I hope this inspires you to create a card with movement.
