Friend Like You Release Blog Hop-Day 2

Hi there, crafty friends. I have two cards to share today in THIS Blog Hop featuring THIS new release from Simon Says Stamp. I was so inspired by THIS background stamp and wanted to do some color blocking with it. For the first card…

I stamped THIS background on three pieces of 6×6 colored cardstock using coordinating colors of cardstock for a tone on tone look. I like to cut my paper down to the size of the background stamp so I have leftover pieces for additional cards. From those three pieces, I cut down the stamped pieces to slightly smaller than an A2 size (4 inches by 5 1/4 inches) and then used THESE dies to cut down the green and dark teal pieces to match up with the light blue piece. I really like using those dies because it makes it so easy but you could definitely just cut your cardstock with a trimmer instead.

Next, I die cut THIS sentiment word die from gray and white cardstock. I stamped the sub sentiment from THIS stamp set and adhered it above the word die cut. I finished off the design with a sprinkling of THESE hearts cut from THIS white glitter cardstock.

I also stamped the flap of THIS envelope with the same background stamp to tie it all together…

For the second card…

I used the leftover pieces to create a horizontal card design. I only used one of THESE dies to cut a leftover piece and then cut the rest with my trimmer to create the color blocking. I wanted to show how good the design looks even if the pattern doesn’t line up…

I finished off the card with the same elements as the first card and stamped the flap of THIS envelope with the background stamp…

Also, I used THIS to round the bottom corners of the envelope flaps for a different look.

I hope this inspires you to try a color block design with a background stamp.

There is much more inspiration to see…
