You Are My Favorite Release Blog Hop Day 2

Hello, crafty friends. I have a Card Set to share today as part of THIS Blog Hop celebrating THIS new release…
I love the look of stenciling on top of embossing. It adds so much interest and texture. To create these cards, I started by embossing five A2 panels of white cardstock with five different embossing folders. I applied Distress Oxide ink through THESE layering stencils on top of the embossing. I used a light, medium, and dark color of ink for the roses. I like using Distress Oxide inks when layering because the color sits on top of the previous colors because of their pigment properties. Dye inks will just absorb into the color underneath. Both will work but I like the look of layering with Oxide inks. I finished off the card with a sprinkling of embellishments and sentiments from THIS and THIS stamp set. I also embossed the flap of the envelope to match the embossing on the card background.

For the first card, I used THIS embossing folder…
Here’s a closer look at that gorgeous texture….

The second card uses THIS embossing folder…

For the last card, I used THIS embossing folder…

This one may be my favorite….
One thing to note, I wanted a solid leaf look. The stencil has a slits where some of the petals are. I just snipped those off but know that this is a bit of a different leaf look than the stencil.

I hope this inspires you to try stenciling over embossing with a stencil.

There’s much more inspiration to see…

Your cards are lovely. Thank you for the reminder that we get a different effect when we stencil over an embossed panel. It’s a technique I haven’t used in a while, and it’s a good reminder to try it.
