Be Creative Release Blog Hop

Howdy, crafty friends. I’m thrilled to be part of THIS Blog Hop celebrating THIS new release.

Today’s card share features an acrylic block background technique…

VIDEO
You can watch the video on this technique HERE or click on the video below…

To create this card, I started by creating the background. I applied Distress Ink to THIS extra large acrylic block (that came with the Bubble Background Stamp), spritzed with water, and laid it down on a slimline panel. I put something heavy on it for a few minutes to let it dry a bit. This helps keep the color saturation. When I removed the acrylic block, I was left with a watercolor look background. If you don’t have a large acrylic block, you can also use a piece of acetate for a similar look.

I repeated the process along the bottom of the card to resemble sand with brown distress inks. Next, I applied white ink through THIS stencil towards the top of the card to resemble sun rays. It’s hard to see in the photograph but gives a cool look in real life. Here’s a closer look…

I stamped the sentiment from the stamp set on a banner cut with THIS die. I finished off the card by adhering down images from THIS stamp set that I colored with Copic Markers. I used THESE coordinating dies to cut them out. I applied one of THESE action wobblers to the middle mermaids image to make them wiggle and resemble swimming in the water.

I also applied ink through THIS stencil on the front, left hand side of the envelope to tie everything together…

I hope this inspires you to give this acrylic block technique a try.

So many cool things in this card! The perfect color scheme for the ocean made me go check my own stock to make sure I have them all to recreate it. Love the way you did two shades of brown for the sand- nice touch! Putting the one element on a wobbler was a great addition. Your son’s artwork is too cute!
