Peekaboo Cards + Yay You Release Blog Hop

Hello there, crafty friends. Today’s cards are part of THIS Blog Hop celebrating THIS new release from Simon Says Stamp..

For these cards, I wanted to do a Peekaboo effect where the majority of the design is on the inside of the card instead of the outside. I wanted to keep the outside pretty simple and only reveal a small window of design. That way, the inside would be a surprise for the recipient.

To create these cards, I stamped the inside of the cards first. I stamped directly on the inside of a Mini Slimline Card Base. Once the design was stamped, I used a light behind the card to see where to place the die on the front panel. I die-cut a heart on one of the cards and a circle on the other right over the image I wanted to highlight on the inside of the card. Next, I colored the images and applied ink through the Arches stencil on the front of both cards. I added small strips to the top and bottom of the pattern cut from the Twine and Bows die for a finished look and added a sentiment from the same stamp set.

For the first card, I used the Oh Gnome stamp set…

The Twine and Bows die I used creates the perfect small strips for finishing touches.

When the recipient opens the card, the scene is revealed…

For the second card…

I did the exact same process but made it a horizontal design instead of a vertical one. I used the Stick Together stamp set.

When the recipient opens the card, a scene is revealed…

I hope this inspires you to try a peekaboo design for something fun and unexpected.
