Hot Foil Thank You Card Set

Hello, crafty friends. So, I finally decided to jump on the Hot Foil Bandwagon and I’m so glad I did. It’s so fun..
With any new product/technique, there is a bit of a learning curve. If you are starting out, I highly suggest watching THIS video by Yana Smakula. She shares great tips and tricks for any beginner and it really helped me.

I used the Heart Grid Hot Foil Plate along with several colors of foil, my hot foil machine, and some Glimmer Specialty Cardstock to create the heart backgrounds. You place your die face up on the Glimmer Hot Foil System and your foil face down on top of it so the pretty side of the foil is touching the pretty side of the plate. Place your cardstock on top plus the plates. Press the button to get it to heat up. Once the button changes to green, you remove the base from the machine and run it through your die-cut machine.

Next, I applied ink through the heart mask using several shades of Distress Oxide inks I added a Thank You die on top and adhered the backgrounds to a colored card base created with the Chunky Scalloped Rectangle die set.

Here’s a closer look at each card…

The shine is so hard to photograph in real life but it gives a letterpress look that is hard to achieve with any other technique. I also love that you can ink blend on top and the foil resists the color…
To create the shaped card bases, I die-cut another of the scalloped rectangles and scored a line towards the top. I applied strong adhesive above that line and then adhered it to the decorated front panel.
I hope this inspires you to try Hot Foiling. I must warn you that it’s addictive though. Once you start, it’s hard to stop! lol

Thank you for visiting today. Have a great day!
