Repeating Shape Backgrounds

Hello, crafty friends. I love cover plate dies. The designs cover an entire background but they have a higher price point. Today’s cards feature how you can use a smaller shape die and die-cut it repeatedly to cover a background for a similar look…

To create these cards, I stamped and Copic colored the girl images from the new Be Lovely stamp set. I used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I stamped and colored gift images from the Gnome for the Holidays stamp set and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I white heat embossed sentiments from the Love Garden Greetings stamp set. For the backgrounds, I die-cut heart dies repeatedly to create a background.

For the first card…

I used the Dotted Heart die. I also added darker blue ink around the edges for some contrast. Here’s a closer look..

For the second card…

I used the Stitching Floral Heart die. Here’s a closer look…

I used the same heart dies and an embossing mat in my die-cut machine to dry emboss the image on the flap of each envelope…

I hope this inspires you to try stretching the use of your smaller dies to create a background.

Thank you for stopping by. Happy crafting!
