Embossing Folder Faux Watercolor Background

Hi, crafty friends. THIS recent release from Simon Says Stamp has some fantastic embossing folders in it. I used the Delicate Pine Branches folder on today’s card…

To create the background, I applied a few green Distress Oxide inks to one side of the embossing folder (not the raised side, the one with the grooves) and spritzed it with shimmer spritz. I laid the cardstock inside and ran it through my die-cut machine creating a faux letterpress look. Also, I used a lot of ink to give an artsy look. If you want a cleaner look, use less ink and water.

I die-cut the Etched Berry Branch Die from white cardstock and white glitter cardstock. I adhered them all together for dimension. I adhered it to the top and bottom of the panel. I stamped a sentiment from the Love Peace Joy Rainbow Stamp Set. I added embellishments to the berries.

I also embossed the flap of the envelope with the same embossing folder. Here’s a closer look…

I hope this inspires you to create a faux watercolor background using an embossing folder as well as embossing on the matching envelope.
