New Distress Color: Salvaged Patina

Hello, crafty friends. Tim Holtz recently revealed the new Distress color HERE and it has quickly become my favorite. It reminds me of the ocean (my happy place) so I’m sharing a couple of ocean themed cards today…

For the first card…

I started by applying white embossing paste through the Spring Boho Circle stencil. After it was dry, I sprayed Salvaged Patina Distress Stain on top heavily and then spritzed with water to get the color moving. After it was dry, I sprayed the Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide Spray in a few spots to lighten it up a bit as well as flicking on some Brushed Pewter spray stain for some added interest.

I die-cut THESE Kitsch Flamingo panels using the Storybook Seahorse Die. I added some googly eyes and  adhered them on top of the background along with a few Bubble Blow Out embellishments. I finished it off with a sentiment from the Be a Mermaid stamp set.

Here’s a closer look…

For the second card…

I ink blended a panel with three colors of Distress Oxide ink. The bottom is Salty Ocean. The middle is Peacock Feathers. The top is Salvaged Patina. I used the Detail Swirls Plate die to add some texture. I heat embossed the Friendship Text background using the Salvaged Patina embossing glaze. I white heat embossed the mermaid tail and some bubbles from the Be a Mermaid stamp set and added a sentiment from the same set. I also flicked on more of that Brushed Pewter spray stain as well as some drops of water. I finished off the design with more of those baubles…

Here’s a closer look at all that texture…

I hope this gives you a better look at the new distress color.

Thank you so much for stopping by. Happy crafting!
