All the Feels Release Blog Hop- Alcohol Lift Backgrounds

Hello, crafty friends. I’m thrilled to be part of THIS blog hop celebrating THIS new release.

I have fallen back in love with my alcohol inks after watching THIS live with Tim Holtz. Man, he is an amazing teacher. I’m sharing several cards today featuring alcohol lift backgrounds.

For all of the cards, I applied alcohol inks to Yupo paper. To do the alcohol lift technique, you ink up any stamp with alcohol lift ink. After stamping the image, I dab the ink lightly and then go in with circle motions and buff. This reveals a ghost like image. Don’t forget to stamp off the excess ink on your stamp on to another panel of card stock or Yupo. It’s a great technique that will result in two cards. I will be sharing those backgrounds in a future blog post. After stamping off, clean your stamp really well and repeat the process, if you want a more intense look. Just remember to clean the stamp well so it will not stain the alcohol lift ink pad.

For the first card…

I used the Floral Garden stamp set and the XL Greetings 2 stamp set with the alcohol lift technique.

For the second card…

I did the same technique with the You Are Loved woodblock stamp on a panel I applied a rainbow of alcohol inks to. I gently peeled off the rubber from the wood block to be able to put it in my MISTI to stamp repeatedly. After I was done, I mounted it back on the block. I also die-cut three hearts and added layers behind them for dimenstion.

For the third card…

I used another wood block stamp with the same technique. The Outline Butterfly image is so pretty. I added some embellishments to the wings and finished off the design with a white heat embossed sentiment from XL Greetings 2 stamp set.

For the next card…

I used the Spring Flowers background stamp with the alcohol link technique and I have to say that the ones I used a background stamp for are my favorite. I added some of Sweet Garden Birds and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I finished off the design with a printed sentiment strip.

For the final card…

I used another background stamp. The Friendship Text is a perfect backdrop on any card. I stamped and colored the Bouquet for Mom image and used the coordinating die to cut it out. I also added a white heat embossed sentiment from the XL Greetings 2 stamp set.

I hope this inspires you to try the alcohol lift technique.

Wow! Beautiful alcohol ink cards! Love your use of the alcohol lift solution, especially with the floral background stamp. I have inks and yupo paper I’ve never used (yikes) but I hope to try soon. So hard to try new things sometimes!
