Holly Jolly Blog Hop

Hi, crafty friends. I’m excited to be part of THIS blog hop celebrating THIS new release. I have two cards to share that have a peek-a-boo opening that holds a gift…

For the first card…

I laid out sentiments from THIS, THIS, and THIS stamp set on a gray A2 panel in my MISTI. I used THIS to help me align all of the stamps straight. I stamped all the sentiments at once using THIS ink creating a text background. I die-cut THIS die from the center of the panel but I left out the top part of the die from the top cutting plate…

This prevents the top from cutting and I was able to score there instead, creating a hinge for the piece to open…

I adhered the panel down to a one of THESE notecards that I covered in green patterned paper using THIS foam tape. It gives a pop of color to the inside of the opening. This creates a spot to place a gift for the recipient. For this card, I used money as a an example…

I finished off the card design by stamping and coloring one of the snow globe images from THIS stamp set. I used THESE coordinating dies to cut it out and adhered it towards the bottom of the opening to give a good place for the recipient to open the flap. I also adhered one of THESE sentiment strips underneath.

For the second card…

I did the exact same process as the first card, but switched up the colors and the snow globe image. I stamped the text using THIS ink on THIS card stock.

For both snow globe images, I added “snow” using THIS white gel pen and added THIS on top for some shine…

Another gift idea for the peek-a-boo opening is a gift card…

You could also put a photo inside!

I hope this inspires you to do some partial die-cutting and create a peek-a-boo opening. The Holidays are just around the corner and it’s a perfect way to make your gift extra special.

Also, try using sentiments or small images from different stamp sets to create a custom background.

I love the cards with the opening for gift cards or cash, but I’m not visualizing what you mean when you say you left the top part of the die outside the cutting plates??

      Hi, Annette.

I just added a photo to the blog post that gives a better visual explanation of the partial die-cutting technique.

      Have a great day,

Love the card holder cards. I don’t think to use my dies in a partial manner very often ….I must try it more often.
