Stencil Week-Day 1

Hello, crafty friends. I wanted to dedicate a week showcasing five different ways to use a stencil. Today is Day One and I wanted to start of simple with basic ink blending through a stencil…

I inked up THESE brushes with dye ink and applied the ink through THIS stencil in a swirly motion on to a few envelopes. You can do the same thing to create quick and easy card panels but I wanted to show how you can jazz up an envelope in just a few seconds by stenciling a corner.

One tip is to keep it monochromatic. I like to use the same color of ink to match the envelope to give it a tone-on-tone look so that it’s not too distracting when writing the address on top.

Also, you can create a bunch ahead of time with the monochromatic look because it will go with any style of card. Another tip is to fade out the design when going to the center by just applying less pressure.

I hope this inspires you to do some simple ink blending on your envelopes. We spend so much time on our cards that we should give a little love to the envelope too.

Thanks for joining me today. I’ll be back tomorrow with another stencil idea.
