Blossoms and Butterflies Release Blog Hop

Hi there, crafty friends. Today’s blog post is part of the Simon Says Stamp’s Blossoms and Butterflies release Blog Hop celebrating THIS release. I have two cards to share today that both incorporate using acetate…

For the first card…

I stamped, colored, and cut out the images from THIS stamp set. I also cut THESE coordinating dies from THIS fun foam to place behind the images for dimension as well as white card stock to adhere behind the images to hide the adhesive through the acetate window.

I stamped a gray piece of card stock with THIS background stamp using THIS ink for a tone on tone look. I stamped a coordinating sentiment from the stamp set. I temporarily adhered it to a white note card and cut a two inch section from the center of the card. I removed the gray stamped pieces from the note card pieces and sandwiched a piece of acetate between them. This way it hides all of the adhesive. I adhered the stamped pieces on top of the window and adhered the extra card stock pieces to the back of the images inside the window to hide the adhesive. I adhered small black strips on the top and the bottom of the window for a finished look. I added THIS and THIS to some of the make up for some shine and added a piece of THIS patterned paper to the inside of the card to peek through the window.

For the second card, I started with one of THESE acetate cards and stamped THIS new background using THIS white Stazon ink.

I die-cut THIS word die from a strip of black card stock and a piece of THIS patterned paper. After adhering all of the layers in place, I covered the entire piece with THIS and heat embossed it with THIS clear embossing powder to give it some shine. To hide the adhesive on the back of the strip, I added the same size strip of card stock on the other side of the panel.

For the inside of the card, I added a strip of that same patterned paper for a place to write a message to the recipient…

To hide the adhesive from the rainbow strip, I added another strip to the very back. It’s a perfect spot for your “handmade by” signature…

I chose to use a strip of card stock throughout the design, but you could use any die-cut shape.

The biggest tip I have when working with acetate is to cut several of the shape to hid the adhesive and to use a permanent ink (like StazOn) when stamping.

I hope this inspires you to incorporate acetate on your next project.
