Cards for Guys

Hello, crafty friends. I’m sharing a card today that would be a perfect fit for a special guy in your life…

I tend to struggle with masculine cards but THIS word die from Simon Says Stamp’s latest release is perfect for guy cards. I like that it comes with the shadow of the word as well. I cut the word from white card stock and the shadow from black card stock. I white heat embossed a sentiment on black card stock from THIS stamp set to go under it. For the background, I stamped THIS background stamp in black ink on THIS card stock. I added a black mat and a sprinkling of starts cut from THIS die. I adhered the whole piece on to a card base made from THIS card stock.

Here’s a closer look…

Since the background stamp I used is a center cut background stamp, I was able to remove the center and create a coordinating envelope…

When the center area is removed, it creates a perfect spot for the recipient’s address. I used one of THESE envelopes. I talk more about this in a previous post HERE.

Here’s a few tips I found that help when creating masculine cards…

*Keep it simple. I think guys appreciate simple. 🙂
*Shrink it down. I shrunk this card down to 4.25 x 4.25. If you shrink your canvas, you don’t have so much stress to fill it up.
*Use products geared toward guys. The products I used today had a masculine feel which made the card making process much easier.
*Color combos are another great way to jump start a masculine card. I chose earth tones, which always seems to be a good fit for guys.

I hope this has inspired you to create a masculine card. I made this one for my step-son. He recently had a big work achievement and I wanted to congratulate him.

Thanks for joining me today.
