Ice Cream Gift Card Holders

Hello, crafty friends. Happy Friday! I’d thought I’d share what I’m gave to the staff at my son’s school for the end of the year gifts…

I planned something different for his main teachers, but I still wanted to say thank you to all the wonderful staff at his school. (secretary, nurse, traffic helpers, past teachers, OT, speech, etc.) I was looking for something inexpensive because I had so many to purchase. I thought ice cream gift cards would be fun. Who doesn’t enjoy a cool treat in the hot summer!? I kept the design the same on all of the cards but I changed up some of the backgrounds and colors.

I started by stamping the backgrounds directly on the note card itself. Usually I stamp a background and layer it on a note card but since I had so many to create, I wanted to save a bit of time. For these cards, I used an older background stamp from Hero Arts. You could use any ray background to achieve a similar look. I stamped THIS ice cream truck image along with THIS sentiment using THIS ink and clear heat embossed it. I clear heat embossed it to create a barrier for the watercolor so the colors wouldn’t bleed into each other. I used THESE watercolors to color all the images. I used the coordinating dies to cut them all out as soon as they were dry.

To create a holder for the gift card, I simply adhered THESE foam strips on the back around the edges, leaving the top open. This way the gift card can slide in and out freely. I stamped the “pull” sentiment from THIS stamp set on the ice cream cone images that I attached to the gift cards. Adhering the ice cream images directly to the gift cards with foam tape makes them easier to grab and slide out…

Don’t have any background stamps? No worries. You can always stamp single images multiple times to create a background. That’s what I did for these cards…

I stamped images from THIS stamp set using THIS ink…

I used THIS background stamp for the next set of cards…

These cards are a bit narrow than a standard card. They measure 4 x 5.5 inches.

For the final cards…

I stamped THIS background with THIS ink. I just love those big stripes. It reminds me of a summer beach towel.

I hope this inspires you to create a fun gift card holder on your next project and spoil someone special in your life.

That’s all for now. Have a great day!
