Hi, crafty friends. Today’s post is a special one. The talented Lea Lawson has created an amazing card drive and fundraiser in memory of her son, Layton. You can read all about her story and details HERE. I wanted to make a few cards that will be donated to NICU parents…
Lea asks that the cards be created around a moodboard that she shares HERE. I chose three colors from the board and stamped THIS background on each. Since I used my MISTI, the placement of the design was the same on each panel so I could cut them into thirds and adhere them back together with three different patterns. This way I was able to make multiple cards with a similar design.
Once all three panels were adhered down to a white base, I die-cut a circle from the center using THIS die. I white heat embossed a sentiment from THIS stamp set on a curve along the bottom of the circle. I adhered the circle die-cut directly down to the card base and used foam adhesive to pop up the frame around it. I tucked in a mountain image from THIS stamp set that I colored with Copics and adhered a few clouds from THIS die. I finished off the card by adding a tiny airplane die-cut and a few dots behind it created with THIS white gel pen.
I hope that you can join in and create a card or two for this card drive. I know that the NICU parents who receive these cards and gift cards will appreciate it. My little guy was rushed to the NICU after he was born and stayed there for ten days. That is not long compared to many families and everything turned out okay, but it was the scariest and most stressful ten days. You don’t want to leave at all and I love that Lea is encouraging the parents to walk outside for a few minutes, grab a coffee, and recharge.
Lea needs the cards by May 31st so there is still time to send them in. Again, all the information is HERE.
Thanks so much for joining me today. Let’s share some handmade kindness.
