Hi, crafty friends. I’m taking part in a blog hop today celebrating the new release from Simon Says Stamp. You can find the entire Love Release HERE.
THIS stamp set won my heart as soon as I opened my package and since I couldn’t choose just one or two images, I created a card set…
I also want to share a few time saving tips along the way. I was able to create this card set in an afternoon and I’m a super slow crafter.
The first tip is to stamp all the images at once. I used my MISTI to stamp all the images on one piece of cardstock.
For my second tip, I used THESE coordinating dies to cut them out. I taped as many dies down as I could so I only had to do two passes through THIS die-cutting machine.
My third tip is to do all the coloring together. For example, I went through all the images and colored all the yellow areas, then pink, then brown, etc. This really cuts down on time instead of fully coloring each image before moving on to the next.
My fourth tip is to use pre-made card bases. I’ve used a Doodlebug set that I’ve hoarded…I mean…had in my stash forever. 😉 I’ve linked to a few similar options in the supply list below. Even just using a pre-made plain card base like THIS one will save time in prepping card bases.
My fifth tip is to do all the heat embossing together. I stamped all the sentiments in THIS ink and then added THIS white embossing powder on top. After that step was done, I heat embossed them one right after the other. This is a great time saver because you’re not waiting for the heat gun to warm up each time.
These cards could be easily replicated even if you didn’t have pre made decorative card bases. You could use a circle die to cut a window in any card front and add some patterned paper to the inside panel to achieve a similar look.
Oh, and don’t forget the envelopes too. We spend so much time on our cards, but envelopes need love too. 🙂
Background stamps are great for stamping on the flap of an envelope. I stamped THIS stamp on the envelopes above to tie everything together.
I hope this has inspired you to create a quick card set using some of the time saving tips I’ve shared.
