Boy’s Birthday Gift Idea

Hi. Recently, my nephew turned 10. Trying to come up with clever gift ideas for boys around this age can be tricky. I thought I’d share what I came up with…

THIS stamp set was perfect for my nephew because he LOVES claw machines. However, I think it would be fitting for anyone who is into video games. I white heat embossed the graphic borders from THIS stamp set along the left side of a black note card, because it reminded me of a video game. I stamped, colored, and cut out the claw machine images and adhered them to a strip of patterned paper. I stamped the coordinating sentiment from the set on a strip of white cardstock and added some black enamel stars around it.

I finished off the card by adding some of THIS to the stars along the top of the machine to add some shine. I also stamped the flap of the envelope with the same borders that I stamped on the card to tie everything together.

Now for the gift giving part. I like to give cash for gifts when I’m not sure what to get because I want the recipient to get what they want. However, since this was a claw machine card, I got a couple rolls of quarters to give instead of just a twenty dollar bill.

There’s something fun about mixing it up. My nephew LOVED it and it’s always a hit with boys. I also like to give the gift coin from target for my nieces and nephews. Having a large coin instead of a gift card is always fun.

I hope this has inspired you with your gift giving.

Thanks so much for stopping by. Have a claw-some day! 😉

Clever idea! It is ideal for that age and I imagine he thought all his Christmas's had come at once with those rolls of coins!
