SSS Mothers, Fathers and Flowers Release Blog Hop

Hi there. I’m joining in on a fun blog hop today celebrating the new release from Simon Says Stamp. It’s called Mothers, Fathers, and Flowers and it is so fun. I was immediately drawn to THIS stamp set from the release because of the icons in it.

I’m a big fan of using the smaller images in stamp sets and stamping them repeatedly, creating a background. I did that with the flower and beer mug image to create these cards…

When stamping repeatedly, I like to start at an angle. This helps give the illusion of stamping perfectly. After the images were stamped I used THESE watercolors to color in the images.

For the Father’s Day Card…

I “colored” in the top portion of the beer mug with THIS VersaMark pen and added THIS puff embossing powder. After heat setting it, the puff embossing powder gives it a realistic foam lo look.

For the Mother’s Day Card…

I created it the same way as the Father’s Day card. To finish it off, I added a shine on the flowers with THIS glitter pen…

I also created matching envelopes for each card using the large sentiments in the stamp set.

This set is not only good for Mother and Father Day cards, there are some other fun icons and sentiments as well.

OMG, these are fantastic! I need to try this repeating stamp on an angle. I just love the look. Thanks so much for sharing that, it's an eye opener for me, I could do this with so many of my stamps.

I really like using a small stamp for the background — your stamping at an angle technique will save the day for me next time I use a smaller stamp in this fashion. Thanks for sharing your techniques and talents.
