SSS May 2017 Card Kit

Hello! Today I’m sharing a card I created using THIS May Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp…

The card kit includes a fun stamp and grid sheet that creates animated images. I chose the butterfly image and when you pull on the tab (attached to the grid sheet), it gives the illusion of movement…

You can see it in action on my Instagram HERE.

I started by creating a card base out of the pink cardstock in the kit. I cut and scored it to create a 4.25 x 4.25 top folding notecard. I cut THIS foam tape into thin strips and adhered it around the edges of the front of the card base, leaving a small section open where the pull tab is. I used THIS anti-static powder bag along the edges of the tape strips to remove any stick so the grid sheet moves freely.

I used THIS die to cut a circle from one of the patterned papers in the kit and from a piece of white cardstock. I stamped the butterfly image in the center of the white circle using black ink and adhered it to the center of the card. I cut a banner from THIS die and stamped the front portion of the arrow from THIS set in both directions. This will serve as the pull tab instructing the recipient what to do. I adhered it using THIS strong adhesive to the grid sheet and laid it in place over the stamped image. I adhered the patterned paper on top and added a few strips to the top and bottom to complete the design. It is extremely important that the grid sheet is straight so that it will line up with the image to create the movement.

I used THIS to add some shine to the flowers and THIS to the black sections to make them pop. I cut out an acetate word from the kit to use as a sentiment and used THIS adhesive behind the letters to adhere it. Here’s a tip about the acetate sheets….there is film of plastic that you need to pull off the front. It’s on there just to keep the acetate clean.

I hope this has inspired you to create an animated card. They are so fun! More inspiration using this kit can be found HERE on the Simon blog.

Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful day!
