Hero Arts Winter 2016 Blog Hop

Hello. I’m so excited to be part of the Hero Arts Blog Hop celebrating their winter release launch. I have several cards to share so I’ll jump right in…

The first cards are gift card holders…

THIS stamp and die set is so fun that I had to make two cards with it. I have a lot of coffee loving friends and thought this would be a fun way to present a gift card. This would also make excellent teacher gifts!
For the first card…
I inked up THIS background stamp with VersaMark ink and heat embossed it using clear embossing powder. I love the shine it has and it reminds me of coffee stains/rings. I stamped the cup design using THIS ink and dressed it up by heat embossing a sentiment on to THIS die-cut heart. I used the coordinating dies to cut it out and adhered it to two circles cut with THIS die.
To create the “pocket” for the gift card to sit in, I adhered a strip of foam tape on the top of the circle and the bottom of the back side of the circle. I left the center open so that the gift card can slip in and out easily…
For the second card…

I kept the design the same just used different elements. I inked up THIS background with THIS ink to resemble bubbles. I also added some of THIS embossing paste to the top of the image to make it look like whip cream…

Moving on to the next set of cards…
I wanted to make another interactive/surprise element like the first set of cards, so I created a “pocket” for the tags to slide into. When they are removed, they reveal additional stamping of “to” and “from” (stamped from THIS set) so the recipient can use them on a Christmas gift…
I applied adhesive to each side of the black strip, leaving the center open so the tags can slide into place without any adhesive.
Here’s a closer look at each…
I used THIS oragami set and heat embossed three of the images using different embossing powders. I used my watercolors to color them in and die-cut each into a tag using THESE tag dies.
I used THIS background die for all three cards. You can get a whole different look by rotating the stamp..
I wanted to keep the cards simple but add interest to the background. I flicked water from a paintbrush on to each background, added matching embossing powder, and heat set it…
For the sentiments, I used THIS set (a new favorite of mine!)
I hope this inspires you to add a fun surprise to your next card. Now for some more inspiration…
