Hi there. Thanks so much for joining me today. I’ll admit that I’m not much of a trend follower but the pineapple trend has stolen my heart! THIS die from Hero Arts was so fun to play with that I decided to make multiple cards…
The die is actually a Paper Layering Die, which means that it has special cut and score lines adding dimension to your project. However, I used it a different way and ran it through THIS die-cutting machine using THIS embossing pad. The pad will emboss the image instead of cutting it out, leaving a letterpress look.
I used the lines to do a bit of no-line watercolor. I haven’t ever tried this technique before but the embossed lines gave me a guide as to where to outline the image. I used THESE watercolor markers and traced the image using yellow and green. Then I used water and a paintbrush to pull the color out from the lines and color in the image.
I did this process several times to add layers of watercolor.
I stamped a sentiment from THIS stamp set using THIS ink. Since the surface I was stamping on was very textured, I used my MISTI to get good coverage. Any areas that didn’t completely fill in, I colored with a black sharpie marker.
I finished off the cards by die-cutting the image using THIS stitched border and mounting them to THIS, THIS and THIS card base.
I hope you give no-line coloring a try using an embossed image created with a die.
I’ll be back soon. Have a great day!
