Camouflage Die-Cutting featuring Ombre Ink Pads (Giveaway too)

Hello! Today I have five cards that feature a technique that I like to call, “Camouflage Die-Cutting”. I will also be showing how to use the Hero Arts Ombre’ Ink Pads in a simple way.

Here are the cards…

The reason I call it “Camoflauge Die-Cutting” is because you die-cut the image from the background and when it’s adhered back into place, it almost appears hidden in the design. It blends right in.
To make it pop out just a bit so you notice the shape, I die-cut the same shape out of foam. I adhered that to the opening like a puzzle piece and adhered the original die-cut piece on top of that. I also applied glossy accents to the top of each shape to add some interest.
I decided to create all the backgrounds from THESE new Hero Arts Ombre Ink Pads. I used the ink pads as I would a stamp. I love the texture it gives and it’s so easy to do. I’ll explain more about this with each card.
I did several cards to show the versatility of this technique. For the first card…
I used THIS Ombre’ stamp pad and applied it direct to paper two times…one on top of the other. I die-cut THIS die-cut image from it. I also die-cut the same shape from some white fun foam. I adhered the white fun foam in the missing section of the card and then the original die-cut on top. I coated it with glossy accents and stamped a sentiment from THIS stamp set on THIS banner die.

On the next card…
I used THIS Ombre’ stamp pad and applied it direct to paper vertically one time. I die-cut THIS heart die from it and heat embossed a sentiment from THIS set using THIS embossing powder. I did the same process as the previous card mounting the heart on top of a foam heart and covering it with glossy accents

For the third card…
I used THIS Ombre’ stamp pad and applied it direct to paper, overlapping the lightest green with the darkest green as I stamped from the bottom to the top. I die-cut THIS die from the background and heat embossed a sentiment from THIS stamp set using THIS embossing powder. I finished it off with doing the same process as the previous cards.

For the next card…
I used THIS Ombre’ stamp pad and applied it direct  to paper once at an angle. I die-cut THIS die from it and stamped a sentiment from THIS set on a banner. Again, finishing the card as I did the others.

For the last card…
I used THIS Ombre’ stamp pad and applied it direct to paper twice, rotating the ink pad and double stamping the center color to create a bold stripe. I didn’t have a sun die, so I used THIS die. I stamped a greeting from THIS stamp set and finished off the card just like the others.

This technique is so fun. I hope you give it a try!

The heart card really jumped out at me. That thin outside border of color pulls it together. Love it. Thank you for sharing.

I like the You Keep Me Anchored one the best as matching the colors on the raised piece with the background seems to "anchor" it to the piece emphasizing your sentiment. Plus, I like the colors. 🙂
