Graduation Shaker Card

Hello there, crafty friends. I thought I’d share a fun graduation card today…

I love the part in a graduation ceremony where all the graduates toss their caps in the air. I thought a shaker card would be fun to create that look. I started by creating the background with THIS stencil and THIS ink. I stamped several hats from THIS stamp set as well as the sentiment and used the coordinating dies to cut them out. I also die-cut the hat image directly from the background three times. using the coordinating die. I did this so a few of the hat images would always stay in the background and not fall to the bottom. I could have just adhered them to the background but I didn’t want the other hats to stick to the glue and wanted a smooth surface.

I die-cut the stars using THIS die with a few metallic papers. I also cut the frame for the shaker window from metallic paper using two of THESE dies taped together. After the shaker was assembled with THIS acetate, I adhered the sentiment on top. When you shake the cards, the loose hats go flying. It’s so fun.

But wait, there’s more…

I wanted to add a little something to the inside to hold the gift. I die-cut THIS petal envelope die from the same metallic papers as well as THIS star. I stamped the star with “OPEN HERE” from THIS stamp set and only adhered one of the points of the star to the envelope so the recipient can easily open it…

Thanks so much for joining me today. Happy Crafting!
