Mirrored Background Stamping

Hello. Today’s card features a background created using a mirrored stamping technique…

I placed a few images from THIS stamp set into my MISTI and stamped them in the lower left hand corner. I rotated my paper upside down and stamped the same images in the opposite corner. I cleaned and removed the images and then turned my paper back to the first position. I placed my images on to the cardstock next to the stamped images in a mirrored position. I stamped them in the lower right corner and then rotated my paper upside down, stamping them in the last open space.

You don’t have to have a stamp positioning tool to create this look, but I like using one because you can stamp multiple times to get a dark look. I also like that I only had to apply the images twice since I was stamping in four corners.

I stamped the images with THIS ink since it’s a Copic Friendly ink. I’m not the best at Copic Coloring but I’ve found small images like these are perfect for practicing. Speaking of small images, many stamp sets come with small, supporting images. They are great for stamping multiple times to create a background.

I finished off the card by stamping a coordinating greeting in the center of the design and then die-cutting it out using one of THESE hearts. I adhered fun foam to the back to make it stand out.

I hope you give this technique a try. It makes for a quick background.

Very cute card! Perfect Christmas colours and fun too! I have used this technique a couple of times, love how quickly the basis of a card can come together using it. I need to look at my small stamps more often 😳. Like I need to do a million and one other things too. I need a list of Heather techniques to try…

really cute card! Your coloring looks great, and I love how you popped up the heart in the middle for added interest. I need to whip up some cards quick for the caring hearts drive, so this would be a great method to try! Maybe I will try heat embossing on solid colored cardstock so I don't have to color for mass producing. 🙂
