Stencils and Micro Glaze

Hi, friends. Today’s card uses THIS stencil with Micro Glaze. Micro Glaze is a water resistant sealer. It’s perfect for sealing Distress Ink, Markers, Stains, Paint, etc. I used it as a resist and I love the results…

I applied some Micro Glaze through the stencil using THIS ink blending tool. I put on a light amount (a little goes a long way) and then swiped the cardstock through a few colors of Distress Oxide ink that I put on my kraft mat. All of the white areas is where the Micro Glaze was applied. It resists the ink and gives a defined edge to the detailed stencil.

You could stop and here and have a beautiful background, but I kept going. I placed the stencil back into place and applied THIS on top. Now where all the white space is, there is a layer of clear texture. It’s very difficult to photograph, but the result is SO cool.

I stamped the greeting from THIS stamp set on to a strip of vellum. Vellum is great for muting a background but still allowing it to show through. I also added hearts around the sentiment. They were created by swiping different colors of Distress Oxide inks on to a piece of yardstick and clear heat embossing them. I used THIS die to cut them out. I added two small strips of black cardstock along the top and bottom of the strip to give it a finished look.
