DIY Bookmarks plus GIVEAWAY

Hi there. Thanks so much for joining me. Today I wanted to share how I created these quick and easy bookmarks using THIS and THIS new die from Simon Says Stamp’s newest release…

I die-cut the fox die from THIS Burnt Orange Cardstock, THIS Neenah Desert Storm Cardstock, and THIS Black Cardstock. I die-cut the Bear from the same Neenah cardstock, Black cardstock, and THIS Dark Chocolate Cardstock. I used a variety of Distress ink and applied some color along the edges of the pieces to make them pop.

These dies only cut the pieces out, but I need a solid image to adhere the pieces to. I created a solid image by using the negative piece from die-cutting as a template to trace. I cut out two solid images for each die. One to adhere the pieces to and one to adhere behind to create the bookmark.

After adhering the pieces like a puzzle to the top piece, I used THIS black glaze pen to add shine to the eyes and nose of each image. To create the bookmark, I applied adhesive to the top portion of the back piece. I left the bottom portion unglued so it can be sandwiched around the page of a book.

I made these bookmarks with my son in mind, but these would be fun for any adult too! You could also adhere these to a paper clip to create page markers in your planner.

I hope you give this quick and easy project a try. It’s a great craft to do with your kids.

GIVEAWAY
I have some Simon Says Stamp goodies to giveaway! However, I want to do something different than just the normal comment. I purposely left the title of this book out of all the pictures. Leave your guess below on what book this is. It was one of my favorites growing up. No worries if someone already commented with it. I’m going to randomly choose one comment from those who guessed correctly. Just something fun and different. You have until June 30th at midnight EST to enter. Good Luck! I would love to hear what your favorite children’s book was too!

Where the Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein, a genius writer for children and adults! My favorite is The Giving Tree! Great bookmarks, too (love the shading)–and thanks for the intro to the black glazing pen!

Where The Sidewalk Ends by Shel Silverstein-There is a place where the sidewalk ends and before the street begins and there the grass … I liked it so much as a child I have two of his books on my shelf right now!

Where the Sidewalk Ends! I love this book too, and often pull it off the shelf when I'm feeling down. It always makes me smile, and from all the comments, it seems to be a favorite for many. I hope everyone who owns this book, as well as "A Light in the Attic" and "The Giving Tree", will think about gifting a copy to a special child in their life! Id hate for the younger generations to miss out on such a wonderful book!

I'm going to say…."Where the Sidewalk Ends." The drawings look very familiar. My boys loved when my husband read this book to them.

Your book is Shel Silverstein's Where the Sidewalk ends, I think anyway. And I'd love to win some goodies. Thanks for offering them. Not much blog candy out there any more.

YAY! Where the Sidewalk Ends! It was my favorite book to check out from the library when I was young. I have my own copy now. 🙂 Another favorite book of mine was Charlotte's Web. I'm not a big reader but that one I read multiple times as a kid.

It looks like a Shel Silverstein book. Not sure which one though. My guess is Where the Sidewalk Ends. When I was in second grade my teacher always read to us after lunch. She read several great books but my favorite was Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle. It's a chapter book with lots of fun stories. I'm a teacher now and another one of my favorites is Charlie the Caterpillar.
