Adhering Sequins

Hello. I’m sharing a few cards today showcasing three new collections of sequins from Simon Says Stamp. Adhering sequins can sometimes be tricky so I’m sharing the three ways I adhered them..

For all three cards, I used a shaped die from THIS set to create a window to showcase sequins behind it. For the first card…

I die-cut the circle from the set and adhered THESE sequins under the opening. I used THIS stamp for the rays with THIS ink. I added a sentiment from THIS set to finish the card. To adhere this batch of sequins, I used THIS strong adhesive. I added a few dots and then placed the sequins on top. I continued this process until the whole opening was filled.

For the second card…

I die-cut the heart from the die set and adhered THESE sequins under the opening using THIS adhesive. I traced the opening on a purple piece of cardstock and then filled the shape with the liquid glue. I dropped in sequins one at a time until the shape was covered. I set it aside to dry for a few hours before placing it under the opening. I used THESE dies with THIS embossing mat to emboss around the opening and add some interest. I also stamped THIS stamp around the opening because of it’s heart shape with THIS ink.

For the last card…

I die-cut the star shape from the same die and adhered THESE sequins under the opening using THIS adhesive. I embossed stars from THIS die set just like the hearts. I stamped a sentiment from THIS set using THIS ink onto a piece of acetate and adhered it under the star.

To recap, I used three different adhesives to adhere the sequins down….Multi-Matte Adhesive, Glossy Accents, and Stick-it adhesive. All three adhesives did the job, but there were pros and cons to each. The Multi-Matte adhesive was the most time consuming, but held the sequins the best. The Glossy Accents was less time consuming and held well, but needed a lot of time to dry. The Stick-it adhesive was quick too, but you have to really press the sequins down to get them to hold.

One more thing. Here’s a tip…use colored cardstock to adhere the sequins to so any gaps are colored and not as noticeable.

I hope this helps when deciding what adhesive to use when adhering sequins.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have an awesome day.
