Happy World Card Making Day (& GIVEAWAY)

Hello and Happy World Card Making Day! I have a different type of post today. In honor of WCMD, I wanted to share how I display the cards I receive from friends and how I store the cards I create.
I display the cards I receive from friends on top of my die-cutting table. I placed a piece of plexi glass on top to protect the cards and make it a workable surface...

Aren't my friends talented!? I treasure these cards and it's such a fun way to display them. I like that I can rotate them whenever I receive new cards. You could also do this on top of a desk and place a piece of glass on top.

I also wanted to share how I store the cards I create. I organize them by theme in a metal filing cabinet under my die-cutting station...

I share more about this in a quick video HERE on Instagram.

Cards are not the only thing you can display. I previously displayed my scrapbook pages...

GIVEAWAY
I have a mystery prize ready to send out to one lucky winner. Just leave a comment below telling me your plans for WCMD or how you store/display your cards. I will choose a winner on Friday, October 7th at midnight EST. Good luck!

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by.

  1. Today I treated myself with some patterned paper sets and some stickers. My friend is a designer and very good with making furniture with wood made me a special kind of shelf where I put the cards from my friends, but I just love the way you preserve yours! Happy crafting

  4. Ooh, amazing room! I pin cards to a bulletin board by my craft desk, and then I store cards in a bin, in no particular order. I am off to make some cards after a lazy morning and my son's football game.

  5. What a great way to display the cards!! I love it! I display my cards (not very many since I don't have a lot of crafty friends) on a picture frame or on a memory board my mom made for me.

Today's plans include making some Christmas cards (and doing a wee bit of online shopping getting supplies for favors for a colleague's upcoming baby shower).

  6. Happy World Card making day! Today I made some Holiday cards! I made these cute Christmas cards with deer and penguins can't wait to post it online. I display my cards along my window sill so when I am crafting I can look up and be inspired by them. Have fun crafting!

  9. That is a really cool idea. I don't really do anything interesting with my cards, just keep them in a shoebox bin. I didn't go to a card making party today.

    1. We were busy yesterday with Fall activities and so no crafting for me. But I store my cards in a plastic bin divided up into categories. I try to make cards and just send them out right away but the others I store in this way.

  11. Your crafting room is fabulous and I love your idea of displaying cards under plexiglass on your desk. I like to display my cards in the kitchen...where I'm mostly at during the day. Happy WCMD!

  14. Mine are sadly all in a box (the ones I make). I don't receive any handmade cards as I don't have many scrappy friends. I LOVE your idea of putting them under the glass though!!

  15. Trying to clean my craft area for World Card Day. I haven't devised how I am going to display the cards I am collecting. I actually would like to have a whole wall devoted to the creations. Putting them on the table top covered with glass like you did is a great idea.

I had planned to make several cards for WCMD and ended up making one, which was for an upcoming DT assignment. So much for my plan...lol

  22. For some reason I am always busy with other things on the first weekend in October so I rarely get to participate in World Card Making Day. So I look at each day as World Card Making Day. Any day is a good day to make cards! I store my cards in a box with dividers for each kind of card. You obviously make many more cards than I do. One of these days I hope to step it up a bit! Thanks for a tour of your space.

  23. WOW - what a WONDERFUL way to display these beautiful cards - LOVE IT - such an honour for your crafty friends too!!!
WCMD was spent as a mixture of blog hopping, making cards and a little crafty shopping. As for displaying my precious handmade cards, I have them on display in our living room for as long as I can, so that I get to enjoy them every day, then, (I feel terrible confessing this) they move to a storage container that gets visited every now and then :)
THANK YOU for sharing and the chance to win, wish my crafting table wasn't the dining table, I think yours is AMAZING.
PS - I'm international, so I understand if you decide to not include me in the prize draw.

  24. WOW Heather ! Your craft room space seems so huge and so cosy ! I love your die-cutting table, it's really beautiful ! And what a smart idea how you display your crafty friends cards ! I love it ! I spent my WCMD making cards (2 cards), storing my cards precisely and blogging (I'm so late in my comments to you all, lovely crafters !). Before storing my cards I wrap them with the corresponding enveloppe in a translucent paper. They are stored in a box by themes. I am still far from having a complete metal filing cabinet like you ! ;-))
Thanks so much for the tour of your craft room !

  25. This is a lovely way to display your cards Heather - and I recognise a few of them too from Jennifer. I had a busy weekend with family over for the Ryder Cup so no cardmaking at all for me on World Cardmaking Day - honestly, didn't they think of that when they scheduled the Ryder Cup?! I shall make up for it this week as I am doing the new Online Card Classes class....

Thank you for sharing your craft room and storage ideas with us - beautiful!

  26. What a beautiful room to create it. I wish I had time to create for World Cardmaking Day but I had a house full of guests. Good times were had but not creating.

  27. Oh I love how you display your cards! I would never had thought of that.
I don't have any cardmaking supplies yet...so I'm going to have to celebrate virtually.
