Hello. I’m honored to be part of the Simon Says Stamp Blog Hop celebrating STAMPtember, a month long stamping celebration. When September rolls around, I mean STAMPtember, I get as excited as a kid on Christmas morning! Like I’ve said, it’s the most wonderful time of the year! 🙂
There are so many great products in the STAMPtember release, but THIS die is one of my favorites. I wanted to share how you can use a die (it can be any die) as a mask with different mediums. For all the cards, I die-cut the die from THIS paper to create the mask and used THIS amazing stamp set for the sentiments.
Here are the seven mediums I experimented with the mask…
1. COLOR SPRAY
This is a great medium to spray right on top of the mask to get a fun graffitti type look. I used THIS color shine spray in gold and it’s gorgeous…
2. MARKERS/MARKER SPRITZER
THIS is a great tool that I don’t use often enough. I placed a purple marker in the nozzle and sprayed to achieve a similar look to the first card. This is great too if you want more control of where the splatters go…
You could also use any kind of marker and scribble on top of the mask for a fun look!
3. EMBOSSING POWDER
After laying the mask on the paper, I applied THIS small VersaMark ink cube on top and sprinkled on THIS beautiful embossing powder…
*NOTE: For the rest of the card designs, I transformed the die-cut by cutting the small flower off the side. This is a great way to stretch your supplies.
4. EMBOSSING PASTE
I only have THIS white embossing paste because it’s easily colored with inks. I used THIS and a little of THIS ink to color the paste and applied it directly over the mask. I love the texture embossing paste gives…
5. WATERCOLOR
I used THESE watercolors to add color on top of the mask. The mask didn’t hold up well with the water (it seeps under a bit), but I really like the results…
6. INK
I used THIS pigment ink pad to swipe across the mask. However, you can use any ink. I think blending on Distress ink would give a great look…
7. ACRYLIC PAINT
This is another medium I don’t grab often enough. I just did a couple of swipes of THIS acrylic paint over the mask…
These are just a few ideas. Try using your dies to create masks and experiment with mediums.
