SSS August 2016 Card Kit plus Taylor’s Take

Hello. Thanks for joining me today. I have a few projects to share using the  August Card Kit from Simon Says Stamp…..

Click HERE to find out more information about this kit.

I absolutely love the patriotic feel to it, but I decided to mix it up a bit…literally…and mix the red and blue color of distress inks included to create a purple watercolor…

First, I white heat embossed one of the constellation images and sentiment on to a piece of THIS watercolor cardstock. After mixing the festive berries and chipped sapphire distress inks and applying it on top of the images, I shook on some table salt to get the color moving. The salt absorbs some of the color in areas and also pushes away some color. It gave me the “galaxy” look I was going for.

Here’s a closer look…

I finished off the card with a coating of THIS on top as well as a spray of THIS. It was tough to capture the shine on a photo, so I took a video that shows all the sparkly goodness HERE
TAYLOR’S TAKE
I also wanted to share a few projects created by my 12 year old niece, Taylor. Click HERE to learn more about her and previous projects she created. She used the card kit to make two cards….

This card was inspired by my card share. For the background, she used the festive berries distress ink to watercolor an abstract star background. She sprinkled salt on hers as well to get the color moving.

Here’s a closer look…

For her second card, she was inspired by the red, white, and blue and decided to make a flag…

She used the embossed paper in the kit as a resist with the festive berries distress ink. She also heat embossed some stars from the stamp set on to some patterned paper. Isn’t it cool!?…

You can check out more examples from other talented designers HERE. Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!
