SSS April 2016 Card Kit

Hello, friends. Simon Says Stamp just released their April Card Kit called, A Colorful Life

Included in the kit is THIS stamp set. It’s a layering stamp set. I have to confess… I’ve never used a layering stamp set until this kit! I was always intimidated by them thinking that the multi step process was too difficult. Well, I’m glad I forced myself out of my comfort zone and used this set. I was hooked by the first one, so I made a whole bunch of cards! …

 Here’s a closer look…

For the center of the flowers, I used THIS black gel pen to make them pop…

I used THIS white gel pen to add highlights to the leaves…

I applied the coordinating ink to a piece of white cardstock to create the strip on the left hand side of each card….

Included in the kit is a pack of stickers that have colored labels. I used them to stamp the greeting on…

I used Simon Says Stamp Ink to create the flowers. Here is the combination I used for each card. The top row is the lighter color that was used for the base (the first layer). The bottom row is the darker color that was used for the center of the flowers (the second layer).
If you don’t have two inks in the same color family, no worries. Try double (or triple) stamping with just one ink color to stretch the use of your supplies.
So if you’re new to layered stamping like me, I highly recommend THIS stamp set. It’s a great set to get your feet wet. Thanks so much for stopping by!

Heather…I am finally pulling out my card kit to really start playing and I was so inspired by this fun card. One question, how do you clean your stamps between dye inks? I always have problems with color contamination with dye inks. Thanks for any insight!
