Creating Texture

Hello. I recently went to a crafty retreat where I had some time to play with THIS adorable stamp set. I immediately knew I wanted to have Santa in front of a row of colorful surfboards…
I started by using THESE watercolors to create a sky background. I stamped the images from the Warm Wishes stamp set using THIS ink and heat embossed them using clear embossing powder. I did some quick Copic coloring and used THESE coordinating dies to cut out the image. I also die-cut a sun from THIS die set using THIS paper pad and THIS fun foam to add a bit of dimension underneath. I stamped the sentiment on a piece of vellum so you could still see all the surfboard colors.
A closer look…

I wanted to make sand to complete the scene, so I found this product in my stash that I’ve had for a long time…

…and thought the gritty texture would make the perfect sand. It’s white so I decided to change the color by adding in a few drops of THIS and THIS. I made sure to put some on the bottom of the surfboards to make them look they were stuck in the sand. I love how it turned out…

That’s all for today. I hope this inspires you to add some texture to your cards. Have a great weekend!

I love how the sand turned out! And I think we found your orange surfboard on the floor when we were cleaning up on Monday. 😀
