OCC Background Check Class- Day Two

Class information can be found HERE
I'm back today with a technique featured in the second day of class. The queen of plaid stamping, Laura Bassen, shared this technique. I have to admit that I'm not good at this. My lines usually are wonky and doesn't end up looking good. However, I was inspired to give it another shot...
I decided to start with my lines at an angle so I wouldn't get frustrated when things didn't end up straight. LOL I used a bold color combo to compliment the adorable ketchup and mustard bottle from THIS set.

To make the smaller images pop, I stamped them with THIS ink and then clear heat embossed them. I stamped a sentiment from the same set inside one of THESE dies. A very simple card.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

I used THIS and THIS stamp set to create the plaid design

OCC Background Check Class- Day One

Class information can be found HERE
The newest class from Online Card Classes started yesterday and I was inspired to create a card. I have been in a major creative funk lately, so this is exactly what I needed! There were several background techniques shared during Day One, but I chose to do Jennifer McGuire's VersaMark and dye ink technique for this background...
I used THIS dye ink to cover a panel of white cardstock cut from THIS die. I inked up THIS background stamp with VersaMark ink and stamped it on top. At first you don't see much, but as it dries, it creates a subtle texture. I love this technique!

Here's a closer look...

I used THIS stamp set by Lawn Fawn and stamped the images using THIS ink. I colored in the images with some Spectrum Noir markers, cut them out and adhered them to the card along with a greeting from the set that I white heat embossed. Oh, and that banner shape is from THIS same die set.

I enjoy decorating the inside of the card as well so I did the same process to make a panel on the inside...
THIS die was used for the speech of my most used dies! I added some wink of stella to the fish for some shine and finished off the card by adding some bubbles with glossy accents.

If you look closely, the bubbles are not clear. This technique made the bubbles have a blue tint instead of clear. I think it soaked in some of that dye ink. I actually like it better...

Make sure to check out the class HERE. It's loaded with inspiration!

Oh, and the winners from the previous post HERE are....all of you who left a comment! There were only four comments and I was going to pick three but I'm going to pick all of you! Please hit the CONTACT button on top of the blog and send me your address. Thanks again for taking the time to comment. I appreciate it.

Have a great day!

SSS Splash of Color (& Giveaway)

Have you seen the new release from Simon Says Stamp!? It's called, "Splash of Color" and it's so fun. I created a card using two products from the release...
Sail Away Stamp Set can be found HERE
Wavy Scallop Stitches Dies can be found HERE
Here is my card...
I used THIS stencil and THIS ink to create the background. I kept the dies together and die-cut the image twice...once from THIS cardstock and once from THIS cardstock to represent sand and water. I just love how they nestle into one another....definitely my favorite product from the release!

I stamped the sailboat image from THIS set using some patterned paper from THIS kit and some of THIS cardstock. After fussy cutting it, I adhered it behind the first wave and added a heart from the stickers in THIS kit.

I stamped the sand with a background from THIS set using THIS ink. I also added highlights with THIS white pen. I finished off the card by die-cutting THIS die and white heat embossing a coordinating greeting.

A closer look...

Simon is also offering these really cool post-it notes in their release...
Custom post it notes can be found HERE
How do they work? You write your message on one of the post it notes, place it inside your card, and your recipient can peel it off and send the card on. I love sharing handmade kindness so I've decided to give away three of these post it pads. Leave a comment telling me your favorite product from the Splash of Color release by midnight on Sunday, July 26th EST for a chance to win. I will pick three winners. Good Luck!
