SSS-The Color of Fun Release

Hello there. I’m excited to share with you a couple of cards I created using product from Simon Says Stamp’s newest release…

You can find all the products from The Color of Fun release HERE. Heidi from SSS was sweet enough to send me some goodies to play with and I created two cards using the Cone Building stamp set…
The first card…
…was so fun to make. I knew I wanted to make a sundae as soon as I saw the stamp set. I stamped the solid circle from the set three times on a piece of cardstock and covered the top half of it with white enamel accents. This gives it a shiny look like ice cream. Once it dried I added some black enamel accents on top to resemble hot fudge. I cut a circle out of one of THESE epoxy hearts for the look of a cherry. What’s a sundae without a cherry on top!?
I stamped the bowl image using THIS new ink. It’s called Melon and it’s gorgeous! I stamped the sentiment using black ink and clear heat embossed it so it would tie in with the black enamel accents. I adhered everything to a couple of patterned paper circles that I cut using THIS die from THIS paper pad.
A closer look…
See that background? I used THIS die and cut out the little spoons from THIS paper to give some dimension but with a tone-on tone look. I love how all the spoons tie into the theme. I added one of them to the ice-cream bowl too.
For my next card….
…I wanted to think outside the box and looked at the stamps in a different way. The sentiment got me thinking of a boat (so I made one out of the bowl image) and I thought the ice -cream cone image turned upside down would be a cool sail…

.

I stamped THIS background stamp using VersaMark ink and clear heat embossed it. I cut a wave from THIS die set and covered it with THIS new ink. Swiping it across the paper left me with some light and dark spots that were perfect for the “water”. I used the small dot image in the set to serve as bubbles. I also stamped the heart in the set and adhered it to the “sail” to tie in with the background.
There you have it…two very different cards using one stamp set. This is a great way to stretch your stamps!
There are LOTS of fabulous products in this release and I have much more to show you. Stay tuned because next week I will be sharing more projects.
Thanks so much for stopping by and happy shopping!

Two terrific cards showcasing the range of that set, Heather! I especially love how you used shading to make the waves undulate on the second one!! Enjoy your day! Hugs, Darnell

Such fun cards, Heather … the faux embossed spoons are a brilliant background to the sundae … and I love how you've used the images to create a completely different look with that sweet sailboat! Anita 🙂

Ok, those are some very clever cards. I LOVE the spoon background. Pretty sure I saw a faux embossing challenge recently, you should definitely enter that card. It's awesome! Thanks so much for sharing.
