Double Take-Masculine and Feminine Cards (and another Giveaway!)

Hello. Today I have what I call a “Double Take” for ya. Two cards, same design, different color scheme. I love to make more than one card of the same design. It makes sense to since you have the supplies out already and who doesn’t need more birthday cards!? 😉

So I wanted to show you two different looks with THESE exclusive supplies I recently purchased from Simon Says Stamp

I used the balloon dies and some sentiments from the stamp set. Here is the card with more masculine colors…

To create this card, I stamped the sentiment repeatedly in Tumbled Glass, Evergreen Bough, and Stormy Sky Distress Inks onto some white cardstock. After that, I die-cut the largest balloon die out of the center of the panel and also cut four more from some white cardstock to layer behind the top balloon. This makes it raised from the panel but to give the balloon even more definition, I applied Tumbled Glass to the edges of the balloon. I also outlined the balloon with a navy marker to make it pop more. I added some white string that hangs off the card to give it a playful feel. Lastly, I heat embossed another sentiment in the set in white on THIS banner die.

I did the exact same process for the next card but used a different color scheme for a more feminine look….

I stamped the same sentiment on this card but used Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, and Worn Lipstick Distress Inks. Distress Inks do not stamp as well as other inks but I love the look they give. A tip I found that works when stamping with Distress Inks is to hold the stamp down for a little longer before releasing. It gives the ink a chance to pool together and seems to give a crisper image…

(I used Worn Lipstick on the edges of the balloon to give definition to the shape)

Speaking of pink ink, that is today’s Giveaway! I have a Hero Arts Bubble Gum ink up for grabs…

Just leave a comment to this post telling me which card was your favorite (the feminine or masculine version) before midnight on Monday, June 30th for a chance to win.

Thanks for stopping by. Hope you’re having a great weekend!

Wonderful birthday cards, Heather! Love your design and the way you repeatedly used the sentiment stamp! Again because I love blues and greens, I'd pick the masculine version.
